BDO Global Lab, 21 August 2026: top tier zones cut to two in English
Global Lab's 21 August patch is the biggest one yet for anyone who logs their hours. Three zones lose the top tier tag and have their loot tables rewritten around it, four Land of the Morning Light zones trade a material for a crystal, and in three inner Edania zones the god's blessing and the monsters' health both double on the same line. Away from the grind, Guild League opens a six week season with 12 minute matches, the Great Ocean gets an island, a new sea monster and the first yellow grade ship gear, and Wukong and Seraph each pick up a Magnus skill. Last week's Agent rework and Twilight of the End recap covers the patch this one builds on.
The notice is mostly Korean. Pearl Abyss embedded official English for the class intros, Guild League, Cheongsa Island, the Lyngbakr, the new ship gear, the loot rework and the graphics update, and one of those English blocks contradicts the Korean. Everything below is a full English recap, including the tables that exist only in Korean.
At a glance
| What | The short version |
|---|---|
| Top tier tag | Star's End, Sycraia Ruins Lower Zone and Zephyrus Castle lose it. Only Gavinya Coastal Cliff and inner Edania keep it |
| Loot rewrite | The three demoted zones lose eleven items outright and gain crystal rates worth 37 to 400 per cent |
| Morning Light swap | Four zones stop dropping Faint Origin of Dark Hunger, and WON Dawn Crystal - All AP rates rise 220 to 800 per cent |
| Edania blessing | The god's blessing damage doubles in Aresion, Scales of Judgment and Event Horizon, and monster health doubles with it |
| Guild League | Six week season, 12 minute matches, 600 points to win, a new match every 20 minutes |
| Cheongsa Island | New Morning Light village with a shipyard and the workshop for Cheongun gear |
| Lyngbakr | New ocean zone with an escorted boss, and a horn that buys yellow grade ship materials |
| Falasi and Cheongun | Yellow grade ship gear. Enhancing it drops a level on failure unless you Cron it |
| Draughts | Every combat draught now runs 20 minutes instead of 15 |
| Wukong and Seraph | A Magnus skill each, plus an AP cut for Wukong and a PvE cut for Seraph |
The top tier list drops from five zones to two
The #HighestTier tag is not a label. It gates a list of items that only drop in tagged zones, so moving the tag moves real money. Pearl Abyss's stated reason is progression: adventurers have moved up since Edania Part 2, so the tag follows them, and the loot in the demoted zones is rebuilt around what people still need.
Before: Star's End, Sycraia Ruins Lower Zone, Zephyrus Castle, Gavinya Coastal Cliff and the inner Edania zones.
After: Gavinya Coastal Cliff and the inner Edania zones.
These eleven items stop dropping in the three demoted zones:
- Refined Origin of Hunger and Refined Essence of Devouring.
- Crimson Primordial Pigment and Luster, Sovereign.
- Violet Primordial Pigment and Luster, both Sovereign and Edana.
- Sunset Primordial Pigment and Luster, Edana.
- Corrupt Oil of Immortality.
Deboreka accessories from those zones are capped as well, at grade II.
What the three zones get back
Zephyrus Castle picks up Sealed Black Magic Crystal on its loot table, and better Silent Fragment of Origin rates.
| Source | Silent Fragment of Origin |
|---|---|
| Belzebub | +100% |
| Thebes, Metis, Zephyros Shadow Priest | +71% |
| Zephyros Shadow Knight | +243% |
Star's End is all about the Gluttony Crystal.
| Source | Gluttony Crystal |
|---|---|
| Contaminated Herald of Corruption, Apostle of Malevolence and Herald of Decay | +400% |
| Unstable Star's Remains | +100% |
| Star's Remains Apostle of Denial | +67% |
| Five more Star's Remains named monsters, Apostles and Heralds of Decay, Corruption and Malevolence | +37% |
Those same five named monsters now drop 2 to 3 Corrupted Sanguine Crystal instead of a flat 3.
Sycraia Ruins Lower Zone trades one crystal for the other.
| Source | Sycraia Crystal | Sealed Black Magic Crystal |
|---|---|---|
| Accelerated Tower of Recreation, Eye of the Deep, Barrier Guardian | +48% | -20% |
| Ancient Weapons Pirash, Raikin, Kuraeba | +67% | -58% |
| Ancient Weapon Elmermol | +100% | -10% |
Four Morning Light zones swap an origin for a crystal
All four stop dropping Faint Origin of Dark Hunger entirely, and pay in WON Dawn Crystal - All AP instead.
| Zone | WON Dawn Crystal - All AP |
|---|---|
| Honglim Base | +800% |
| Fortunate Golden Pig Cave | +630% |
| Dokkebi Forest | +460% |
| Golden Pig Cave | +220% |
Three more zones were retuned on the same principle.
- Yzrahid Highlands. Kabua's Fragment up 52%, Embers of Resonance down 54%.
- Darkseeker's Retreat. Kabua's Fragment up 400% from everything except the Gluttonous Darkseeker, Essence of Devouring down 49%.
- Orzekea. Gem of Void up 40% from everything except Alketa, Her Failure. Deboreka Belt and Deboreka Earring down 20%.
Inner Edania: the blessing doubles, and so does the health
In Aresion Temple, Scales of Judgment and Event Horizon the extra damage from the god's blessing is doubled, and the monsters in those three zones have twice the health to match. The two lines cancel only while you hold the blessing, so the cost falls on the ramp rather than the plateau.
The rest of inner Edania is housekeeping.
- Aphrodon Temple. The Blessed Scarecrow of the Golden Fields does 10% less damage with its ground slam, and the kick that follows it does 100% more.
- Hermesia Inner Castle. Monsters that were meant to be untargetable no longer flicker into being hittable.
- Magaia Temple. Monsters respawn as soon as the zone gimmick finishes.
- Aresion Temple. Runs no longer stall part way, the Ember of Denial is always hittable, the Proclamation of Fire's attack animation is fixed, and every monster there uses moving attacks less often.
- Inner Edania. The lava bull and the ruins crow were dropping the wrong knowledge. Both are fixed.
- The weekly Throne of Aresion fight gives you longer to react: Aal's second trial now takes 5 seconds to fire instead of 2, and the obstacles you could collide with in that arena are gone.
- Guild bosses Gumiho and Dueoksini drop their loot directly. The treasure chest that used to appear after the kill is gone.
- New Tachyon's Legacy discoveries are placed through inner Edania, starting at points marked with a blue effect, and passing Edana's trial pays Agris's Gold Coin.
- The guild absence setting has been removed.
Guild League: 12 minute matches, one every 20 minutes
The new regular season runs six weeks from the next official server update.
| Region | Season |
|---|---|
| Korea | 26 August after maintenance to 7 October before maintenance |
| Global | 27 August after maintenance to 8 October before maintenance |
Pearl Abyss's reasoning is that gear and strategy have both moved on. Lopsided matches now hit 1,000 points quickly, while even matches never got there and ran the full clock. So the clock and the target both came down.
| Rule | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Match length | 20 minutes | 12 minutes |
| Win condition | 1,000 points | 600 points |
| Matchmaking | every 30 minutes | every 20 minutes |
Entry now has a 4 minute waiting period after matching, the first kill is worth 30 points and every kill after it 10, and rewards were rescaled to the shorter match. Everything else holds: 7 to 10 players per group, weekdays from 5pm to 1am and weekends from 1pm to 1am, no entry while a node war, conquest war or Blue Battlefield is running, and a week of matchmaking ban at three penalties.

Red Battlefield gets the same treatment, showing the number of adventurers queued as a count out of 30.
Winning a match pays gold bars, perfumes and whale tendon consumables, and losing pays a smaller box of the same. The season table is where the money is.
| Place | Guild funds | Member reward |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | 500,000,000,000 | Guild Leaguer title, 5,000 Cron Stones and a box of Immortal consumables |
| 2nd | 400,000,000,000 | Guild Leaguer title, 4,000 Cron Stones |
| 3rd | 300,000,000,000 | Guild Leaguer title, 3,000 Cron Stones |
| 4th to 10th | 200,000,000,000 | Guild Leaguer title, 2,000 Cron Stones |
| 11th to 20th | 100,000,000,000 | Guild Leaguer title, 1,500 Cron Stones |
| 21st to 40th | 70,000,000,000 | Guild Leaguer title, 1,000 Cron Stones |
| 41st to 60th | 50,000,000,000 | Guild Leaguer title, 500 Cron Stones |
Ranking rewards need 10 matches played over the season, members need 14 days in the guild to qualify, and the title lasts until the end of the next regular season.

Cheongsa Island and the Lyngbakr
The fog over the Land of the Morning Light's sea has lifted on Cheongsa Island, a village run by Hyunyong's Chorong Merchants whose shipwrights still hold the old Panokseon craft.

The Nopsae Sea has been widened between Dalrae Ferry and Cheongsa Island, so a ship can now run the whole way.
Out in the Great Ocean, the Lyngbakr has driven the Saltwater Crocodiles off their patch and taken it. This one is built around the escort rather than the boss: a pack of Lyngburks guards it, and Pearl Abyss has pitched the fight at veteran captains.

- Main loot: Lyngbakr's Horn, Lyngbakr's Bone, Scale and Ooze, Cerni, Zulatia and Margoria ore, Claws of the Waves, Coral Crystal, Great Whale Oil, Sea Monster's Red Fish Meat, Sea Monster's Grotesque Fang, Moss Covered Treasure Map and Sunset Coral Essence.
- Junk: Lyngbakr's Coral Piece, 500,000 silver at 0.1 LT.
- Lyngbakr's Horn exchanges for one of 125 Sturdy Coral Support, 75 Wave Carved Plywood or 50 Crimson Coral Adhesive.
- Gangman, the wharf manager on Cheongsa Island, offers a weekly quest: kill 2 Lyngbakr for 1,000 contribution EXP, sailing EXP, 500 Crow Coins, 6 Sea Monster's Red Fish Meat and 3 Ocean Essence.
Sea Monster's Red Fish Meat sits at 5 to 20 million silver on the market. Ocean Essence cannot be traded and comes from the weekly quest or from killing the Hollow Mareta.
Falasi and Cheongun: ship gear goes yellow
Blue grade parts have been the ceiling for a long time. Falasi is the yellow grade set for the four Epheria Carrack types, Cheongun is the Panokseon set, and both are a straight step up rather than a sidegrade.
| Part set, +10 | Damage reduction | Armour | Durability | Rations | Part durability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chiro, any carrack | 26.80% | 130 | 150,000 to 200,000 | 150,000 to 200,000 | 100 |
| Falasi, any carrack | 38.60% | 190 | 300,000 to 350,000 | 250,000 to 300,000 | 200 |
| Byeokgye, Panokseon | 26.80% | 130 | 200,000 | 200,000 | 100 |
| Cheongun, Panokseon | 38.60% | 190 | 350,000 | 300,000 | 200 |
Extra damage moves with it. A Balance carrack goes from 39,000 on Chiro to 60,500 on Falasi, and a Panokseon from 46,800 on Byeokgye to 72,600 on Cheongun, which also carries 2,000 LT more weight.
Carrack parts are crafted at the Ilya Island No. 3 workshop, now upgraded to level 2, and Cheongun parts at the Cheongsa Island workshop. Every recipe wants the same three Lyngbakr materials plus a finished blue part and a permit.
- 125 Sturdy Coral Support, 75 Wave Carved Plywood, 50 Crimson Coral Adhesive.
- 10 blueprints for the part you are making.
- A +10 Chiro part of the matching carrack type, or a +10 Byeokgye part for Cheongun.
- One part modification permit, 5,000,000,000 silver from Filaberto Falasi in Epheria or Gangman on Cheongsa Island.
The three materials are processed from Lyngbakr's Bone, Scale and Ooze with a Starlight Reagent and a Starlight Emulsifier each, and there is a 10x batch recipe using Black Stone Powder. Blueprints come from Sunset Coral Essence, 2 per carrack blueprint and 4 per Cheongun blueprint. Handing the same bone, scale and ooze to the Crow Coin exchanger instead pays 8, 12 and 20 Wave Black Stones.
Enhancing takes Sunset Wave Black Stone, one per attempt, processed from 1 Sunset Coral Essence and 100 Wave Black Stones by Heating.
| Step | Base chance | Soft cap stack | Chance at soft cap | Agris's Essence | Cron Stones |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| +1 | 3.00% | 70 | 24.00% | 8 | 0 |
| +2 | 2.00% | 100 | 22.00% | 9 | 290 |
| +3 | 1.50% | 125 | 20.25% | 9 | 360 |
| +4 | 1.25% | 130 | 17.50% | 11 | 380 |
| +5 | 1.00% | 145 | 15.50% | 12 | 400 |
| +6 | 0.85% | 150 | 13.60% | 14 | 420 |
| +7 | 0.70% | 155 | 11.55% | 17 | 440 |
| +8 | 0.55% | 165 | 9.63% | 20 | 460 |
| +9 | 0.40% | 185 | 7.80% | 25 | 480 |
| +10 | 0.25% | 240 | 6.25% | 30 | 540 |
Carrack parts are tradeable and priced accordingly: 53 to 78 billion silver at +0, 83 to 122 billion at +5, and 166 to 242 billion at +10. Panokseon parts cannot be listed on the market at all.
The class pass: two Magnus skills and a grapple rewrite
Grapple stops holding you after an Emergency Escape
Emergency Escape now frees you the moment you use it, even mid grapple. The grapple skips straight to its finishing motion and ends, and that finishing motion applies none of the grapple's damage or crowd control. Extra attacks that are separate from the grapple's own effect still land, Wukong's Gotcha! and Drakania's Piercing Spear among them.
Pearl Abyss also added a short delay between a successful grapple and the attack that follows it, which is aimed at the case where the grab lands but the target is not actually held. The lead in to the grapple and the defensive window on a successful one are both unchanged.
Four classes got matching polish: Giant's Rock Lift Toss no longer drops the target behind you or scales with jump height, Valkyrie's Punishment and Wizard's Flame Knot both step towards the target to match the animation, and Ninja's Flash Binding cannot be cancelled into the shortsword mid attack.
Wukong trades attack power for PvP ratios

Wukong gains the Magnus skill Strike 'Em!, unlocked through the Abyssal Legacy chain the way the other Magnus skills are. The compensation is the interesting part.
- The Victorious Fighting Buddha passive no longer gives 30 all AP. It gives 22.
- The on hit buff from Out of My Way!, I'll Beat You Senseless! and One More Time! drops from 24 all AP to 22 for the same 10 seconds.
- Nearly every Wukong skill then gets its PvP damage ratio raised by about 3.3% to hold PvP output flat, with a couple of larger exceptions.
Net effect: PvP is roughly where it was, and PvE loses up to 10 AP.
Seraph loses PvE damage outside Sacramentum

Seraph gains the Magnus skill Feinting Cleave from the same Abyssal Legacy chain. Twelve main weapon skills then lose 3 to 10 per cent PvE damage, with Judgment taking the largest cut, and four Sacramentum skills gain 3 per cent so that total damage in Sacramentum stays where it was.
Every one of those changes is paired with an opposite move in the skill's PvP ratio. We multiplied all sixteen pairs and the PvP output lands within a rounding error of where it started, so this is a PvE adjustment only.
Corsair gains PvE damage and sustain
Seven awakening skills gain 3 to 20 per cent damage against monsters, again with PvP ratios adjusted so PvP output does not move. Water Piercing Slaughter is the largest at 20 per cent, Wind Weaving Slaughter next at 17.
Recovery went up with it.
| Skill | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Melee: Charge | HP +150 per hit | HP +200 per hit |
| Captain, Set Sail! IV | MP +75 per hit | HP +200 per hit |
| Temptation of the Sea | MP +180 per hit | MP +250 per hit |
| Black Spirit: Melee: Charge | HP +200 per hit | HP +250 per hit |
Pirate Crew, Set Sail! loses the burn damage on the Flopping Fish Trio: Cannon effect and gets a larger damage increase in its place, and Wind Weaving Slaughter can chain into Wave Cleaving Slaughter again.
Lahn's succession gets faster
Prime: Piercing Heart had its attack range and timing matched to the animation, and every hit inside that range now registers equally. That drops its skill specialisation from 4 triggers to 2, and the skill fires about 13% faster. The +84 HP per hit that used to trigger on Prime: Tangakchu now triggers on Prime: Crimson Sword Dance.
Two more fixes close the class list: Striker's Purgatory Drop no longer keeps its guard to the end of the animation when chained into a grapple, and Agent's Magic Bullet Marksman animation no longer cancels Black Shrine entry or a Traveler's Map.
Draughts, catalysts and the ocean pantry
Every combat draught now lasts 20 minutes instead of 15. The list runs to 49 entries and covers the standard, Immortal, event and Party: Harmony families.
The catalyst chain got a bulk tier. Each of the five draughts that feed Harmony gains a 100 count recipe built on 300 of each sub draught and 10 Condensed Spellbound Catalysts, and the Party: Harmony Draught recipes now take 1 Condensed Spellbound Catalyst and no Ivellab's Essence at all. A Condensed Spellbound Catalyst is 10,000,000 silver at the Dark Moon shop in any town or major city, and 10 Spellbound Catalysts exchange for one in either direction.
Sailing gets its own consumables.
| Item | Effect | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Okilua Wave Set Meal | Sailing and trade EXP +25%, sailor EXP +10%, sailing mastery +50 | 600 min |
| Ocean Draught | Sailing and trade EXP +20%, sailor EXP +10% | 180 min |
| Wide Ocean Draught | Sailing and trade EXP +20%, sailor EXP +10% | 360 min |
| Vast Ocean Draught | Sailing and trade EXP +25%, sailor EXP +15%, sailing mastery +50 | 600 min |
The set meal overwrites any Cron meal you are running, and prices land between 6.25 million and 150 million silver depending on the tier. The two older workshops were renamed at the same time: Chiro's Ship Part Workshop is now Ilya Ship Part Workshop, and Byeokgye Ship Part Workshop is now Nampo Ship Part Workshop.
Everything else worth knowing
- FSR 3.1 and DirectX 12 have slipped past August. Pearl Abyss says testing across PC configurations is not finished, and that FSR 4.1 and DLSS follow those two.
- Sailors can be dragged onto a slot in the sailor management window instead of clicking through it.
- The guild recruitment window shows guild fame instead of guild points.
- Hyperboost game tips now link into the Adventurer's Guide.
- Olvia Academy combat lecture quests can be accepted in the field rather than through the Black Spirit, and the Veil Ink materials step no longer sends you to Odyllita.
- Quest markers moved with the crocodiles, so the three Saltwater Crocodile Treasure quests and Okilua's Flower point at the right water.
- Fixes: poison trap damage, warehouse contents when you log in dead, blank guild alliance notices, guild fame history at maximum, alliance login alerts reaching the wrong members, and node entry surviving a world map or menu switch on a pad.
What this changes for tracking
Four things here move numbers you have already measured.
The top tier reshuffle is the big one. Star's End, Sycraia Ruins Lower Zone and Zephyrus Castle each lose eleven items and gain crystal rates instead, and whether that is a raise or a cut depends entirely on what pigments, lusters and crystals are worth on your region's market this week. Any silver per hour figure for those three measured before this patch should be treated as stale. Our grind spot data splits trash from drop income, which is the split this patch moves.
The Morning Light swap is cleaner to read. Honglim Base, Dokkebi Forest and both Golden Pig Caves give up Faint Origin of Dark Hunger and get 220 to 800 per cent more WON Dawn Crystal - All AP. One is a progression material, the other is a market item, so this changes what your hour is denominated in as much as what it is worth.
The doubled blessing in Aresion Temple, Scales of Judgment and Event Horizon is a wash only if you hold the blessing. Everything before that point takes twice as long, which shows up in a short session and disappears in a long one.
There is also a straightforward saving: 20 minute draughts instead of 15 minute draughts cut your consumable count for those buffs by a quarter, on every hour you log.
All of it landed on official servers on 27 August 2026, matching what Global Lab tested.
