BDO Global Lab, 28 August 2026: Life Skill gear goes Family-wide in English
Global Lab's 28 August patch is the biggest structural change to gear in years, not a loot pass. Every Life Skill tool, costume, accessory and artifact becomes Family-wide equipment on one screen, three Lightstone combinations are removed outright, and Alchemy Stones lose durability entirely. Away from gear, Node War Tier 1 gets six new stat caps to close a loophole, every fort tier in Occupation and Construction Node Wars is unified to Tier 5, and Conquest War gates get tougher while cannon fire against them gets weaker. A handful of classes picked up skill tweaks too. Last week's top tier zones and Guild League recap covers the patch this one builds on.
The notice is almost entirely Korean. Pearl Abyss embedded official English for the Tamer changes, the Life Skill gear integration overview, the gear unequip notice, Merv's Silver Needle and Knot, the Coral Crystal and Blue Whale Oil change, the Hunting damage rework, both Node War stat and fort tier changes, the Conquest War DP changes and the system note. Everything else, including every table below, is translated here.

Life Skill gear becomes Family-wide
Every Life Skill tool, costume, accessory, artifact and matchlock moves onto one integrated gear screen, the same way Life Skill tools already worked. Everyone in the Family draws on the same equipped set, and a preset can be saved and swapped in per Life Skill. Accessories, Alchemy Stones and the new Evergreen Orb only need one copy equipped to apply everywhere; everything else has to be equipped separately for each Life Skill to count. The matchlock no longer takes up a main or sub-weapon costume slot, and can now be equipped in combat stance too.
Pearl Abyss's own reasoning is that Life Skill and combat gear were starting to blur, so the update draws the line back: some Lightstone combinations were doing more than intended, and get removed; combat and Life Skill gear now have clearer, separate jobs.
Three Lightstone combos are removed
Canine Tooth (Crit Chance +8%, Hunting EXP +10%, Hunting Mastery +20, Attack Speed +2 levels, Crit +1 level), Blacksmith's Blessing (Monster extra AP +5, Monster DR +5, equipment durability-loss resistance +30%) and Refreshing Dream (Energy Recovery +2) are all deleted.
Blacksmith's Blessing was mostly used for fishing, so five fishing rods get a 4.5x base durability increase to compensate. Any durability currently on those rods is scaled by 4.5x too. Crio's Fishing Chair and Crio's Sturdy Fishing Chair lose their durability entirely instead and become time-limited items: 3 days and 7 days. Anything you already own arrives as an unopened box on the same terms.
Refreshing Dream was gathering's main source of extra Energy Recovery, so the chance to avoid consuming Energy at all, which already scales with Gathering Level, is raised by 10% and now reaches its maximum at Professional 3.
Golden Coral Belt is deleted, not reclassified
Golden Coral Belt, and its Brilliant, Golden Sun and Manos versions, mainly increase Max Weight Limit rather than a combat or Life Skill stat. Classifying it as combat gear would make it essential for Life Skill content, and classifying it as Life Skill gear would make it essential for combat, so Pearl Abyss is removing it instead of picking a side. From the 10 September maintenance the belt can no longer be worn, enhanced or traded on the Central Market, and Silver equal to its Central Market value is paid to anyone holding one.
Evergreen Orb replaces the Dawn Crystal
Evergreen Orb is a new accessory-slot item in the Life Skill gear screen, replacing Dawn Crystal - Life EXP. It enhances from 0 to 15 at a guaranteed 100% success rate, using Evergreen Shard as the enhancement material.

| Level | Life EXP bonus | Materials needed | Central Market price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | +4% | 1 | 75,000,000 to 300,000,000 |
| 1 | +8% | 1 | 150,000,000 to 600,000,000 |
| 2 | +12% | 1 | 225,000,000 to 900,000,000 |
| 3 | +16% | 1 | 300,000,000 to 1,200,000,000 |
| 4 | +20% | 1 | 375,000,000 to 1,500,000,000 |
| 5 | +24% | 1 | 450,000,000 to 1,800,000,000 |
| 6 | +30% | 6 | 900,000,000 to 3,600,000,000 |
| 7 | +36% | 6 | 1,350,000,000 to 5,400,000,000 |
| 8 | +42% | 6 | 1,800,000,000 to 7,200,000,000 |
| 9 | +48% | 6 | 2,250,000,000 to 9,000,000,000 |
| 10 | +55% | 20 | 3,750,000,000 to 15,000,000,000 |
| 11 | +62% | 20 | 5,250,000,000 to 21,000,000,000 |
| 12 | +69% | 20 | 6,750,000,000 to 27,000,000,000 |
| 13 | +76% | 20 | 8,250,000,000 to 33,000,000,000 |
| 14 | +83% | 20 | 9,750,000,000 to 39,000,000,000 |
| 15 | +90% | 20 | 11,250,000,000 to 45,000,000,000 |
An Evergreen Shard comes from Processing (Heating) 1 Essence of Dawn, 30 Trace of Nature and 500 Magical Lightstone Crystal, and prices the same as a level 0 Orb, 75,000,000 to 300,000,000 silver. Heating a Shard makes an Orb and heating an Orb gives a Shard back, so the two convert freely. The old Dawn Crystal - Life EXP, in its Jin, Bon and Won grades, is deleted and refunded as Evergreen Shards: 25 for Jin, 5 for Bon, 1 for Won, mailed through the Black Spirit's gift box once this reaches official servers.
Merv's Silver Needle and Knot
Until now, a functional costume's bonus only worked while that exact costume was equipped, which meant choosing between the bonus and any other look. Merv's Silver Needle and Knot fixes that: it extracts a functional Pearl costume's effect into a Knot, which then equips in the Life Skill gear screen and works no matter what you're wearing, as long as Black Spirit's Claw has been used on the source Pearl costume once.
| Knot | Life Skill slot | Effect | Crafted from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bear Necessities Knot | Hunting | Hunting EXP +30%, base matchlock ammo +1 | Silver Needle + Bear Necessities Hat + Bear Necessities Clothes |
| Agris Knot | Farming | Farming EXP +30%, harvest/breed time -2s | Silver Needle + Agris Hat + Agris Clothes |
| Pavilla Knot | Alchemy | Alchemy EXP +15%, Alchemy time -2s | Silver Needle + Pavilla Hat + Pavilla Clothes |
| Venecil (Karki) Knot | Processing | Processing success +3%, can process items straight from storage | Silver Needle + Karki Hat + Karki Suit, or Silver Needle + Venecil Hair Ornament + Venecil Dress + Venecil Gloves + Venecil Shoes |
| Canape Knot | Cooking | Cooking EXP +15%, Cooking time -2s | Silver Needle + Canape Hat + Canape Clothes + Canape Shoes |
| Venia Knot | Training | Mount EXP +50% | Silver Needle + Venia Riding Hat + Venia Riding Attire |
The Silver Needle itself is crafted into a Knot, or bought from the Old Moon Manager NPC for 10,000,000 silver, and both the Needle and finished Knots can be exchanged for 100 Gold Bars at the same NPC. Two exceptions: the Bear Necessities costume's own Attack/Cast Speed +2 level bonus does not extract into its Knot, and the Bear Necessities and Venia Knots do not stack with their source costume's matching hat.
Alchemy Stones lose their durability
With Life Skill and combat Alchemy Stones now equipped separately, every Alchemy Stone that used to have durability, on both sides, no longer does. Kutum's Power Stone's effect changes at the same time, from "reduces a hit monster's DR by 10 for 30 seconds" to a flat "+10 all AP."
Spirit Stones are removed entirely, along with their Alchemy and Processing recipes and the ingredient quest that fed them. Green-grade Spirit Stones convert 1:1 to blue-grade, and the white-grade Wild Spirit Stone converts to a blue-grade Destruction Spirit Stone. Anything left at 0 durability, or deleted outright, is refunded at Central Market base price as of 28 August 2026 18:00 KST, or vendor sell price for 0-durability items.
When it lands
All of the above unequipped and moved to the Heidel warehouse at the 3 September maintenance (2 September in Korea), the same maintenance that put the whole Life Skill gear integration live.

Monster: more Coral Crystal, and Hunting gets its own damage formula
Coral Crystal and Blue Whale Oil, both perfume ingredients that have been chronically short, now also drop from the Ocean bosses Khan and Vell. Each boss's reward pouch adds 1 Great Ocean Oil and 2 Coral Crystal. Pearl Abyss says supply will likely still run short even after this ships. Blue Whale Oil is renamed Great Ocean Oil in the same update. Only reward pouches earned after this patch carry the new drops; pouches you already hold do not gain them retroactively.
Hunting gets a rework alongside the gear integration. Hunting Clothes lose their DP entirely, and your combat gear's DP now applies while Hunting instead. To keep the damage you take from Hunting Monsters roughly where it was, Pearl Abyss reweighted the damage formula so Damage Reduction has less influence over it, specifically to avoid adventurers needing top-tier combat gear on top of Life Skill gear just to Hunt comfortably.
Two smaller cuts land at the same time: killing a Lyngburk, the escort mob guarding last week's Lyngbakr, now gives 80% less Sailor EXP and 75% less Naval Fame than before.
Node War Tier 1 gets six new stat caps
Stat-limited Node Wars cap combat stats so newer guild members can compete. Pearl Abyss found that guilds were still gearing up specifically for Node War inside those caps, so Tier 1 gets six additional caps on top of the eight that already applied, aimed at letting a PEN (V) Tuvala-geared adventurer compete on that gear alone.
| Stat | Status | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| AP | existing | 395 |
| DR | existing | 335 |
| Accuracy | existing | 650 |
| Evasion | existing | 738 |
| DR rate | existing | 20% |
| Accuracy rate | existing | 0% |
| Evasion rate | existing | 0% |
| Max HP | existing | 6,500 |
| HP natural recovery | new | 5 |
| Stamina | new | 2,100 |
| Max Black Spirit's Rage | new | 100% |
| Black Spirit's Rage recovery | new | 0.15% per second |
| Special Attack DMG | new | 20% |
| Crit Chance | new | 20% |
Max Black Spirit's Rage can still reach the usual 500% ceiling through Rage Transfer even under the 100% stat cap. Asadal's Blessing, Asadal's Wrath and Taebaek's Blessing, the accessory-exclusive skills adventurers kept ready specifically for Node Wars, no longer work in a stat-limited Node War. HP Recovery, Stamina, Rage, Special Attack Damage and Crit Chance gained through class skills (active or passive) still apply above these caps, to keep each class's own identity intact, and Tier 1 and Tier 2 both now let Max HP gained from class skills exceed the cap as well.
Node War forts move to any of six locations, all at Tier 5
Occupation and Construction Node War forts have always spawned at two fixed locations per tier, per territory: two Tier 3 spots, two Tier 4 and two Tier 5. With only a handful of guilds fighting over a territory, that meant fights kept landing in the same two spots. Every fort in a territory is now Tier 5, and can spawn at any of the six locations that used to be split by tier. Final capture rewards stay the same as the old Tier 5 payout, and construction-mode Node Wars keep their existing per-day participant caps.
Two timing rules tighten up in Occupation Node War. Territory splitting and the fort count lock used to happen at different times (20:45 and 20:50); both now happen 15 minutes before the war starts. And the threshold for a fort's remaining time turning into a question mark drops from 10 minutes remaining to 5, so a fort can now finish from 5 minutes after it flips to a question mark instead of 10.
Conquest War: tougher gates, weaker cannon fire
Adventurers' average stats have climbed since the newest accessories launched, so unlimited Node War and Conquest War fort and Command Post DP rise by roughly 20%, and annex DP by roughly 4.1%. Conquest War gates specifically get a further 20% DP increase, and the damage adventurers deal to gates is cut 60%, because class balance changes had been letting gates fall faster than intended.
Mediah's geography lets ships fire on the castle from the water, and Pearl Abyss judged that a handful of crew could deal disproportionate cannon damage against a side that has to hold against a much larger force. Cannon damage against forts, Command Posts and annexes is cut sharply as a result; the notice does not give a number for that cut, only "significantly reduced."
Class balance
Five classes get skill changes this patch. The skill names below are the official English ones Pearl Abyss published on 3 September.
Tamer. Succession's Prime: Moonlight Strike, and Awakening's Moonlight Strike I to III and Flow: Full Moon, no longer regenerate Stamina while the skill is active. This closes a loop where Tamer could keep her Evasion-based defence up indefinitely. Succession's Prime: Legendary Leap Stamina cost drops from 200 to 150 to compensate, since Succession Tamer has no backward Guard or Block skill to fall back on. Succession's Soaring Kick can no longer be comboed from an airborne move during Evasion.
Maehwa. Six Succession skills get a uniform 5% damage increase. Eight Awakening skills change: six get 3%, Moonrise gets about 2%, and Flow: Frostflower gets 15%, by far the biggest single change in the patch. Every one of these is paired with a small cut to its PvP damage ratio so PvP output holds close to flat, making this a PvE-focused pass across nearly her whole kit.
Striker (Awakening). Endless Explosion's HP recovery on hit drops from +200 to +125 per hit, while Fallout and Endless Fight both gain a new HP-on-hit recovery effect they didn't have before, +220 and +230 respectively.
Drakania (Awakening). Extinction and Doombringer both gain a new WP-recovery-on-hit effect: +75 and +30 WP per hit respectively.
Scholar. The main-weapon Gravity Anchor skill, chained from Attraction, could intermittently fail to move the caster even on flat ground. It's now unaffected by Attack/Cast Speed buffs or debuffs, which raises its base cast speed 25% and makes its cores spawn faster. Core lifetime drops from about 7.7 seconds to about 5.
Bug fixes: Guardian succession and Drakania Awakening can now use Black Spirit's Rage during certain Inner Edania boss gimmicks that used to block it; Seraphim's Bold Will now triggers regardless of Vanguard Chase's cooldown; and Agent's Magic Bullet: Activate Command now keeps its front guard during backward movement, no longer locks out the next skill if hit by a status effect mid-animation, and shows its idle animation correctly out of combat while wearing a Pearl costume.
System note
Pearl Abyss says further server-stability optimisation has been applied this week, with weekly patches to continue as they identify more causes, and the ongoing "No Crystal Breaks on Monster Death" event is extended again. Guild mission activity is now applied in one batch after a mission completes, rather than live during it.
What this changes for tracking
The Life Skill gear integration landed with the 3 September maintenance, so "gear planning" for Life Skill content now means one shared loadout per Family with a preset per Life Skill, rather than one setup per character. If you were holding Canine Tooth, Blacksmith's Blessing or Refreshing Dream pieces for their combo bonus, that bonus is gone; the fishing rod and fishing chair changes above are live too. Golden Coral Belt is not gone yet: it stays usable until the 10 September maintenance, a week after this patch, when it is deleted and paid out in Silver automatically.
Blue Whale Oil, item 551 on our items list, is officially renamed Great Ocean Oil rather than the Ocean's Oil this article first guessed; Coral Crystal (item 404) keeps its name and gains Khan and Vell as sources. Neither is heavily documented in our own drop-source data yet, so this is a good prompt to add Khan and Vell as sources now the rename is confirmed.
On the war side, our Tier 1 Node War stat caps at /wars already tracked six of the eight existing rows in this notice exactly: AP, DR, Accuracy, Evasion, DR rate and Max HP. Accuracy rate and Evasion rate at 0% aren't stored as separate rows. The six new Tier 1 caps, the Tier 5 fort unification and the Conquest War DP changes are all live now, so this is a real backlog item, not a watch item: worth flagging for whoever owns war night planning, since "which locations can spawn a fort" is no longer predictable by tier.
Edits made by Pearl Abyss
Pearl Abyss has amended this notice since it was published. Each entry is dated.
31 August
- Venia Knot's Mount EXP bonus is 50%, not 30%. The original notice gave 30%.
- Golden Coral Belt, including its Radiant, Sunlight and Manos versions, becomes Life Skill only gear. Its Accuracy increase effect is removed. Neither of these was in the notice when this article first published.
3 September
- Golden Coral Belt, and its Brilliant, Golden Sun and Manos versions, are deleted outright at the 10 September maintenance, with Silver compensation. The 31 August correction above said it becomes Life Skill only gear and loses an Accuracy bonus. Neither was right: the belt mainly gives Max Weight Limit, and Pearl Abyss removed it rather than reclassifying it.
- Cryo's Fishing Chair and Cryo's Sturdy Fishing Chair lose their durability entirely and become time-limited items, 3 days and 7 days. This article originally said they got the same 4.5x durability increase as the fishing rods.
- A third Lightstone combination, Refreshing Dream (Energy Recovery +2), is also removed. This article originally named only Fang and Blacksmith's Blessing.
- Maehwa's Awakening changes touch eight skills, not seven. Flow: Frostflower gets a 15% damage increase, well above the 3% most of the others get.
- Tamer's Succession Soaring Kick can no longer be comboed from an airborne move during Evasion. This was missing from the article.

- Dawn's Essence to Essence of Dawn.
- Fang to Canine Tooth.
- Cryo's Fishing Chair and Cryo's Sturdy Fishing Chair to Crio's Fishing Chair and Crio's Sturdy Fishing Chair.
- Grand Bear Knot, Hat and Outfit to Bear Necessities Knot, Hat and Clothes.
